"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.
When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it. When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries into help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, war-mongering Americans. I’d like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?
Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times and safely home again. You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here. When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them.
When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake. Our neighbors have faced it alone, and! I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of them

who has given us freedom of religion.

Dear Civilians,
We know that the current state of Affairs in our great nation have many civilians up in arms and excited to join the military. For those of you that can’t join, you may still lend a hand. Hear are a few areas we would like your assistance:
1) The next time you see an adult talking or wearing a hat during the playing of the National Anthem....remind that we are safer because of our military.
2) When you witness firsthand someone burning the American Flag in protest... Kick their butt
3) Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the highest amount of respect to all veterans. If you see anyone doing otherwise quietly pull them aside and explain how these Vets fought for the very freedom they bask in every second. Enlighten them on many sacrifices these vets made to make this Nation great.
4) If you were never in the military DO NOT pretend that you were, Wearing camouflage, telling others that you used to be "Special Forces" and collecting GI Joe Memorabilia might have been ok if you were still seven, Now it will only make you look stupid you can’t take credit for a real hero
5) Next time you come across an Air Force member do not ask them "Do you fly a jet?" Not everyone in the Air Force is a Pilot. Such ignorance is to prominent (children are exempt)
6) If you witness someone calling the U.S. Coast Guard a non military inform correct them the Coast Guard is a valid entity of the Armed Services
7) Roseanne Barr's singing of the National Anthem is not a blooper...It was a disgrace and disrespectful.
8) Next time Old Glory goes by during a parade, get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by placing your hand over your heart. Quietly thank the military member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her...
9) What Jane Fonda did during the Vietnam War makes her complicate to aiding the enemy and guilty of treason. And not worthy of receiving a nomination for "Woman of the year"
10) Don't try to discuss politics with a military member or veteran. We are Americans and we all bleed the same regardless of our party affiliation. The President is our Commander in Chief regardless of our political party. We have no inside track on what happens inside those big important buildings where all those representatives meet. All we know is that when those civilian representatives screw up the situation, they call upon the military to go straighten it out.
11) "Your mama wears combat boots" never made sense to me. If she did she would most likely be a vet and, therefore, a member of the military.
12) Bin Laden and the Taliban are not communists, so stop saying "Let's go kill those Commies!! "Stop asking us where he is!” Crystal Balls are not standard issue in the military. Terrorist run and hide give us the chance to do our job and stop criticizing.
13) Flyboy, Jarhead, Grunt, Squid etc are terms of endearment we use describing each other. Unless you are a service member or a vet you have not earned the right to use them. Doing so shows disrespect to our military.
14) Last but not least, whether or not you become a member of the military, support our troops and their families. Every Thanksgiving, and religious holiday that you enjoy with family and friends, please remember that there are literally thousands of sailors and troops far from home wishing they could be with their families. Thank God for our military and the sacrifices they make every day. Without them, our country would not as strong as it is.
